Parade of Buddha statue

During this most important festival in the South, Villagers join hands to decorate the palanquin on which a Buddha state is temporarily enshrined and paraded around the village. The parade can be either on land or by boat depending on the village’s location. At Ban Don Suratthani City on the 15th   day of the waxing moon in the 11Th month. The statue is parade either along the main road on the Tapi River. In the afternoon many villages and nearby provinces join the long boat racing. The statue parade at Koh Phangan is held on the 8th-10Th day of the waning moon in the 11th month. Koh Samui the statue parade at Nathon Town. People using traditional rhythms and joyfully throw seaweed to others.

Sat Duen Sip
The 10th month festival aims to provide offering and express gratitude to the late ancestors. On the day to welcome the ancestors back to his world people offer food, desserts, flowers and candles to monks in the temple. On the day to bid farewell to the ancestors people offer local dessert to monks leave it on designated places such as near temple gates, walls, trees or leave it on an elevated specially built structure called “ La Pret”. Once the monks have completed their rituals the villagers joyfully scramble for the dessert.

Bull fighting
This ancient popular sport on Koh Samui was once held on large undecorated terrain in coconut fields or farms. Now permanent stadiums in various districts take turns hosting the monthly bull fighting.
